Implementing Lifelong Learning Universities through training and development

IMPLEMENT aims at supporting universities in becoming true Lifelong Learning Universities. Therefore, it is exploiting the excellent BeFlex Plus [1] training materials by turning them into 5 distinct and freely available online courses in the areas of:

  • Exploring Diversity in University Lifelong Learning (ULLL)
  • Curriculum in Partnership
  • Implementing institutional change in University Lifelong Learning (ULLL)
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
  • Regional Cooperation and Partnership in University Lifelong Learning (ULLL)

Course developers

The courses were launched in November 2012 in the IMPLEMENT Final Training Event in Malta and are available and free to be used through EUCEN's Moodle elearning platform:

These courses are intended for:

  • counsellors, advisers, assessors, trainers or process managers
  • heads of unit, project managers, project consultants, teachers or adult educators
  • administrators or managers in University Lifelong Learning/Continuing Education

They are designed to be used by individuals as a self-learning tool for personal and professional reflection.

This trainers' guide supports the use of the courses by groups of professionals with a trainer/moderator.

The BeFlexPlus training materials

The online courses developed by IMPLEMENT are based on training materials which were one of the outputs of the predecessor project, BeFlex Plus. BeFlex Plus sought to stimulate further development of best practice and innovative actions for ULLL, particularly those using the Bologna tools in regional learning partnerships and strategies for LLL. The original training materials and additional products of the BeFlexPlus project aimed at managers and trainers for use with groups of staff and colleagues are available for download on the website.

The materials were produced by Judy Rumbelow and Darryl Bibby of Bibby Rumbelow Ltd (www.bibbyrumbelow.com) in association with Pat Davies on behalf of EUCEN (www.eucen.eu) and the Project partnership.

BeFlex Plus project partners: University of Oldenburg (DE), University of Deusto (ES), University of Helsinki (FI), University of Sciences and Technologies of Lille1 (FR), University of Aveiro (PT), University of Lund (SE),  Kaunas Technical University (LT), Catholic University of Louvain (BE), Hogeschool of Amsterdam (NL) and London Metropolitan University (UK)
